Terms and Conditions:
As a physiotherapist I pride myself on not only guiding, but empowering others to manage their own musculoskeletal related injuries.
After completing a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at La Trobe University I have under taken further post-graduate studies in Sports Physiotherapy in order to be able to provide high quality musculoskeletal physiotherapy services.
Having worked in a variety of environments including post surgical and professional sporting environments, I have developed valuable experience and skill in the management of many injuries.
Previous and Current Sport Involvement:
Having had a positive experience with a physiotherapist as a teenager I had the goal of becoming one myself.
I completed my Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree at the Australian Catholic University in 2015 (Brisbane) before working in a private practice and inpatient hospital.
In 2018 I relocated to Melbourne and continued to work in a private practice with a very heavy musculoskeletal and sports case load. In 2016 & 2017 I was the head physiotherapist for Queensland Under 15 Hockey team. In 2018 I was appointed to the role as the head physiotherapist for the Victorian Thunderbolts Under 20 Rugby League team, before becoming the Head Physiotherapist for the Victorian Thunderbolts junior academy programs in 2019. This opportunity has allowed me to engage with the senior physiotherapists of the Melbourne Storm and continue my learning in an elite sporting environment.
I’m currently furthering my education at La Trobe University, undertaking my post graduate studies in sports physiotherapy.
I enjoy treating patients of all ages and ailments and have a strong focus of client driven rehabilitation through continual goal setting.
Away from physiotherapy I enjoy going to live music gigs, exploring Melbourne’s food culture and supporting my two footy teams The Sydney Swans and the Melbourne Storm!
Why did you want to become a Podiatrist?
As a junior footballer I succumbed to many lower limb injuries, which was frustrating to say the least! Through this I became passionate for the human body and injury management, so I decided I wanted to help others from going through what I did, and to achieve their sporting goals.
Where did you study?
I completed a Bachelor of Podiatry at the University of Newcastle. In addition to this, I also have my Level 1 Strength and Conditioning Coach accreditation from ASCA, and my Level 2 Sports Trainer certificate from Sports Medicine Australia.
Interesting things you’ve done in your career?
I’m lucky enough to be involved in developing content relating to exercise therapies in podiatry, teaching some of my knowledge to other podiatrists online and at professional development events. I have also been a running technique and athletic development coach for a number of football and netball clubs, and have been mentored by some top shelf coaches and podiatrists along the way.
What do you do to keep fit?
I play footy for West Brunswick Magpies, and like to hit the gym 2-3 x per week. I often take my ringneck parrot Louie for walks along the Maribyrnong river.
Favourite thing to do outside of work
Exploring all that Melbourne has to offer! In particular attending live sport (Sydney Swans and Newcastle Knights fan) and concerts.
